The man laid in his bed, arms stretched out behind his head, legs and body under the covers, staring at his white ceiling. The man was thinking, thinking about life, thinking about the future, the past, and most importantly the present. The man thought until one word echoed across his mind, "change", the man thought more of the word and how it could possibly apply to him, but deep down he had the thought for a split second, the man wanted change.
What kind of change the man did not know, but change was all he knew he wanted. The man thought more and more about ways he could change his life, maybe he could run away, explore the world, get a new job, try new food. As the man thought more and more, the more he began to dismay the ideas, "Oh I don't have enough money, not enough time, I don't have the energy."
The man used the excuses to clear his thoughts and said quietly to himself, that even if someone were listening on him they could not hear; he whispered "I don't want to change me I want change around me". The man thought of what this could mean, when he again quietly whispered to himself "I want to change around me." As the man thought and thought about what could this mean, shadows began to form onto his walls created by a stream of light from the moon that shined through his window. As the man thought more deeply, a faint memory appeared from his early childhood days when asked what he wanted to do, the child in the man said,"I want to change the world for the better, so that everyone can be happy."
The man chuckled as he remembered his naive days as a child, his carefree life, the fun he had, the dreams that surrounded him, the energy he once had. For a moment the man smiled, a genuine smile, a smile that comes from within, but just for a moment, a moment in the night, a moment that will be lost in the night when the sun rises and a new day begins again.
